TRANSPORTATION OF DANGEROUS GOODS

Training Programme Purpose
The purpose of learning is to ensure safe loading, conveying and off-loading of dangerous goods according to legal and organisational requirements.

Entry Requirements:

Learners must have the appropriate driving license
> Code of conduct (Criminal)
> Medical fitness certificate
> Basic numeracy and literacy skills
> Minimum Grade 10 certificate
> Learners must be over the age of 25
> Teaching language is English
> Physical requirements are set in accordance to occupational standards.
> Ratio: Theory 1:10, Practical 1:4

Day 1

Introduction to Conveying Dangerous Goods
> Dangerous Goods Classification, Exempt Quantities and Compatibility
> Placarding and Documentation
> Emergency Response Procedures and Personal Protective Equipment
> Drivers Duties, Documentation and Behaviour

Loading and Off-Loading Dangerous Goods
> Vehicle Stability
> Summative Knowledge Assessments
> Summative Performance Assessments
> Summative Assessment Marking & Learner Feedback Sessions

Operate a Heavy Rigid Vehicle

Training Programme Purpose

The purpose of the learning credited in this unit standard is to ensure that learners are able to drive a specific type of rigid heavy vehicle in accordance with legal, safety, manufacturer and other relevant requirements and reflect on the manner in which the vehicle is operated.

> Basic numeracy and literacy skills
> Learners must be over the age of 18
> Teaching language is English
> Physical requirements are set in accordance to occupational standards
